The scrolling function on your iPhone is something you probably haven’t given much thought to. In fact, the experience isn’t so seamless that it’s easy to find yourself doomscrolling through social media for hours on end, or even working your way through a long email, until you realize that you need to go back to the top of the page. Then what? Are you left endlessly scrolling all the way back?
The answer is no. That’s because there’s a hidden solution that’s both simple and easy to remember. You only tap your iPhone once, but you have to hit the right spot and the device will zap you right to the top of your page. This is where you need to tap depending on which iPhone model you are using.
Tap the top of the screen to have the iPhone scroll to the top of the current page.
-
If you have an iPhone 14, you can tap either side of the Dynamic Island and the phone will immediately scroll up.
-
With the iPhone X or any models with a notch, you can tap either side of the notch.
-
If you have an older iPhone without the Dynamic Island or a notch, you can achieve the same thing by tapping the clock in the status bar.
The iPhone has many secret functions that can be unlocked with simple gestures or taps. Be sure to check out how to use gestures to copy and paste text between your iPhone or iPad. Or read how to quickly copy text from iPhone photos using its Live Text feature.
