Verisk, the global data analytics and technology provider, has named Rob Newbold to succeed Bill Churney as President, Extreme Event Solutions following his retirement.
The appointment is effective from December 31, 2023.
Lee Shavel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Verisk, commented on the appointment, “The Extreme Event Solutions team will play a critical role in helping Verisk serve as a strategic data analytics and technology partner to the insurance industry, and the team made significant contributions to building global stability.
“For two decades, Rob has been a driving force behind client-driven innovation, rooted in the latest science, which has been a cornerstone of the team’s growth. With the support of a league -on and diverse leadership team, he will further expand the Extreme Event Solutions team’s contributions to the success of our clients and the global insurance industry.
Newbold joined Verisk in 2002 as a risk consultant, and since then he has held several roles of increasing responsibility. He has been integral to the growth of the business during his tenure.
After the financial crisis of 2008 when the 144A property catastrophe bond market continued to grow, he founded and led the team that continues to serve as the global standard for catastrophe bond risk assessment.
Most recently, Newbold served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Extreme Event Solutions.

Churney retired from Verisk after 21 years of service with the company. For the past eight years, he has served as President of Extreme Event Solutions.
