Twitter’s head of trust and safety Ella Irwin has resigned, she confirmed Reuters, marking the departure of one of Elon Musk’s most important executives at Twitter. Irwin took over from Yoel Roth in November after Roth resigned earlier that month. It’s fortune Kylie Robison reports early on Thursday that Irwin’s Slack account seems to have been deactivated.
In his months-long tenure, Irwin has presided over some tumultuous cycles at Twitter, including times when Twitter came under scrutiny for not doing enough to prevent child exploitation. Irwin himself shared internal Twitter information with Bari Weiss as part of the “Twitter Files” reports and reportedly ordered the ban of Twitter accounts that shared information about Musk’s private jet.
of Irwin of Musk posted about his resignation on Twitter. It’s unclear who might take over the role or if there’s even a candidate in mind — perhaps that’s something incoming CEO Linda Yaccarino will have to figure out.
Twitter’s press email responded with a poop emoji, as it has since March.
