Global specialty insurer and reinsurer SiriusPoint has appointed Anthony Shapella as Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer, effective September 5, 2023.
Shapella joins SiriusPoint from AIG, where he held several senior roles during his decade-long tenure.
These include the Global Head of Portfolio Analytics, Chief Risk Officer for Financial and Liability Lines and Risk Aggregation Analytics Director.
Prior to Aon, Shapella worked at Towers Watson in insurance consulting and reinsurance brokerage roles.
Now, in this newly created role, SiriusPoint says Shapella will work closely with global executive and underwriting leadership to create “underwriting value and growth.”
“His focus is on profitability and performance management, optimizing underwriting capital allocation, disciplined portfolio management and delivering a One SiriusPoint approach to global underwriting,” the company explained.
