Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones will not attend the team this Wednesday, coach Josh McDaniels announced.
On Tuesday, Jones posted several irate messages on his Instagram story, saying he was locked out of the team’s practice facility, and jabs at McDaniels and Raiders general manager David Ziegler.
Speaking to reporters, McDaniels described Jones’ situation as an “everyday” scenario.
“That’s a personal situation,” McDaniels said, per se Illustrated in SportsAlbert Breer. “We’ve never gotten into those things. … This is a private matter.”
In addition to Jones’ social media comments, he shared a screenshot of several messages he allegedly sent to McDaniels, saying it was “embarrassing” that he had to attend a “local gym to work out instead of the Raiders facility” as a leading NFL. athlete
“I’m wild Josh [McDaniels] and you know you have to do what’s right,” Jones said in a final message to McDaniels.
Jones alleged that the franchise did not take his calls, but the team is said to have reached out to his ex-girlfriend.
The four-time Pro Bowler wrote in his post—which has since been deleted—that he wouldn’t want to play for Las Vegas if McDaniels and Ziegler were in charge.
“F— it, I don’t want to play for the Raiders if that’s my HC, or GM,” Jones said.
In 11 NFL seasons, Jones registered 112 sacks, 511 combined tackles (352 solo), 121 tackles for loss, 34 forced fumbles, 30 pass deflections and one interception.
