Odyssey Reinsurance Company (OdysseyRe) announced the appointment of Christopher Shafer as Vice President and Head of North American Cyber underwriting.
Shafer will be responsible for helping the company’s business partners effectively address cyber risk, on a facultative and treaty basis.
Brian Quinn, OdysseyRe’s North American CEO, expressed his excitement about Shafer’s appointment, saying, “We are delighted to have Chris on board to lead our cyber liability offering. He has exceptional scope and depth of cyber knowledge that will undoubtedly benefit our efforts in a market that continues to mature and develop at a rapid pace.
Prior to joining OdysseyRe, Shafer spent a decade at Guy Carpenter, a leading global risk and reinsurance specialist, where he served as Vice President.
He also held roles as Actuarial Analyst and Treaty Broker during his tenure.
Shafer began his career in the insurance industry at Munich Re in 2010, where he gained valuable experience.
