Isabela Merced’s resume is already stacked, but the star of low quality Dora the Explorer and The Lost City of Gold just getting started. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporterthe young actress—who will soon enter Sony’s live-action Marvel universe as Anya Corazon (whose spider-zone is Araña) in Madame Web—discussing two other big projects he has in the pipeline: James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy and The Last of Us season two.
Merced shared with THR that even though actual shooting of Gunn’s film at DC Studios has not yet begun, she has already done a test shoot as Hawkgirl with the filmmaker. “I ordered it [Gunn] during the [screen] test for [Superman: Legacy], because I auditioned for it. I have to do it [the screen test] with my other cast mates, and that was great. It feels very professional; it was almost like a legitimate shooting day,” shared Merced. “So I’ve learned a lot about his process, and this guy…
Before we see her fly, she’ll be dealing with HBO’s clickers The Last of Us season two. Merced was recently cast as Dina, a teenager who lives in the group Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) encounter led by her brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna). When he learned that co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann wanted to meet him for the role, he worked on acting. The Last of Us Part II, where her character Dina was featured. “I had already seen the movie, and so I went to my friend’s house and I played [The Last of Us Part II] all in one week on PS5. It’s amazing. It makes for a 25-hour game,” Merced shared. “It was wild, but it was a lot of fun. That’s why I really liked the second game, but I haven’t played the first game yet.” Now that he has the role in the bag, there is plenty of time for him to catch up.
