Welcome to TechCrunch Exchange, a weekly startup-marketing newsletter. It was inspired by the daily TechCrunch + column from which it got its name. Want this in your inbox every Saturday? Sign up here.

This week, I explore how one VC feels about a big part of his portfolio pivoting to AI. And I have updates on my new fixation: internal developer portals. — Anna

TechCrunch + recently noted a paradox: “VCs love to talk about AI, but they don’t write as many checks as you might think.” Perhaps because they don’t need to make new investments to own shares in AI companies.

“A lot of existing investments are starting to pivot to AI — roughly two companies every month,” Day One Ventures founder and general partner Masha Bucher told me.

For example, email app Superhuman is one of the startups in its portfolio that has recently ventured into AI.
