Specialist re/insurer Hiscox has promoted Craig Martindale to the role of Group Chief Actuary, subject to relevant regulatory approvals.
Martindale has worked at Hiscox since 2009, holding a number of senior roles across the business during his nearly 15 years with the company.
Since 2015, he has served as Group Head of Capital Management, building the function and taking significant steps to optimize capital deployment. In 2019, Martindale also took on the role of Interim Chief Investment Officer for a time.
In his new role, Martindale will continue to be based in London and lead a team of 50, with responsibility for integrating the Capital Management and Actuarial Reserving teams.
He will report to the Group’s Chief Financial Officer, Paul Cooper, who commented: “During his career at Hiscox, Craig has built up a wealth of knowledge across the business, working closely with claims and underwriting. to bring valuable insight. We will benefit greatly from Craig’s extensive expertise in his new role, as we continue to focus on making the most of the opportunities in front of us and realizing our ambitions.
