Gabriel Luna cast Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider on Agents of SHIELD highly praised, and fans of the show and more widely Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to raise Luna (The Last of Us) as an ideal crossover candidate. The actor wasn’t always in favor of the idea—but now he’s more open to it.
said Luna Forbes that over the years his stock response when asked if he would return was, “I love what we do, I’m very happy with what we’ve done and I’ll be happy to leave it on the shelf and admire what we do and be in the audience . remember it happily, the way they did. Redoing the character just gave me another chance to screw it up.” Now it seems the actor may be more amenable to a comeback. From the same interview: “It feels like the need can be there and if the creative is there and it makes sense… I think at Marvel now, it’s so intricately woven that it will be a few years when they start thinking about. it’s, to do character. I’m always open.”
His biggest fear is always that Robbie Reyes will do something wrong—a unique character that breathes new life into Ghost Rider series, and has become one of my personal favorites in the slate of rebooted characters over the past few years. Luna seemed to understand. “It’s important to honor what people love about certain things, what I love about it,” he said. “And that kind of helps when you have some blocks already in place, some of the foundation is already solid, I think it’s important to start building from there.”

Luna revealed in an interview with Comic Book that apparently Marvel is all-in on Ghost Rider that it used the hold clause in his contract, which means “they paid him not to work, or agreed to quit work to return as the Spirit of Vengeance.”
But when the acquisitions between Fox, Hulu, and Disney happened, eventually Marvel’s plans changed and Ghost Rider — the TV show — was shelved. “”Really disappointing at the end,” Luna said “I remember the time I tried to have some perspective on it and you couldn’t look back.”
Looks like Luna is ready to bring back the skull and flames. I hope the MCU lets him do it.
