Two people were killed in an excavator accident in northern Germany, regional police said Sunday.
What do we know so far?
A child and an adult were killed in the incident, and 10 other children were injured, some of them seriously, police in the German state of Lower Saxony said.
The injured ranged in age from 4 to 10, according to police.
The accident happened on Saturday at a camp for fathers and children in the Harburg district of Lower Saxony.
A police spokesman said the group was riding in a box that was being brought down a dirt road by an excavator.
The box was dislodged and fell from the excavator after the vehicle’s hydraulic hose ruptured, the spokesman said.

Some of the people were trapped under the box.
A fire brigade spokesman said the group was riding the road “for fun.”
Several emergency personnel responded, seizing the excavator for police examination
According to the police, 60 rescue workers and 30 police officers went to the area.
The excavator was seized for police investigation.
The 44-year-old excavator driver is being investigated for murder and whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
