Everest Re names new general counsel

Everest Re Group announced the appointment of Ricardo Anzaldua as executive vice president and general counsel, effective June 12.

In his new role, Anzaldua will report to Juan C. Andrade, president and CEO of Everest Re Group, and serve on the company’s executive leadership team.

“Ricardo is an excellent and trusted strategic advisor whose exceptional legal acumen and extensive knowledge of complex, global business and legal issues make him a valuable addition to our senior leadership team,” said Andrade. “Ricard’s experience in fluently navigating the broad range of regulatory, compliance and litigation issues in the US, Bermuda and other global markets will be an asset as we advance our global strategic objectives. Anzaldua has over three decades of legal, corporate governance and (re)insurance industry experience. Prior to joining Everest Re, he served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Freddie Mac. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president and general counsel of MetLife. Anzaldua has also held positions at The Hartford Financial Services Group and global law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he is co-chair of the diversity committee.
