Corvus Insurance, an AI-powered cyber specialty insurer, has announced the appointment of Albert Zhou as Chief Risk Officer.
Zhou will report directly to the President of Corvus Insurance, Prashanth Gangu, and join the company’s leadership team.
Zhou, a seasoned insurance professional with more than 12 years of cross-functional experience in actuarial, risk, and analytics, has played a key role in improving Corvus’ industry-leading approach to risk management in cyber.
Prior to joining the company, Zhou held the position of Chief Actuarial & Analytics Officer at SynchronoSure, an early-stage commercial MGA. In 2021, he founded Toyl Ventures, a privately owned arbitrage trading firm specializing in digital assets.
Zhou also spent seven years at Third Point Re and SiriusPoint, where he served as SVP, Actuarial Director, leading the US actuarial team in areas such as pricing, reserving, capital modeling, and risk management. His career began as an actuarial consultant at Ernst & Young, and he holds the esteemed designation of Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
Expressing his enthusiasm for joining Corvus, Zhou highlighted the company’s impressive underwriting results and its innovative and collaborative culture, which brings together top-tier talent from technology and insurance backgrounds .

Gangu praised Zhou’s appointment, recognizing the significant contribution he will make to the company’s ambition to become a dominant player in the cyber insurance market. Gangu highlighted Zhou’s deep experience and leadership as instrumental in improving Corvus’ risk management practices.
In his new position, Zhou will oversee the implementation of Corvus’ best-in-class risk and actuarial practices. His responsibilities will include pricing, reserving, systematic risk modeling, risk aggregation, and aggregation.
In addition, Zhou will oversee risk underwriting activities through Corvus’ captive, Corvus Reinsurance Company.
