The town hall is scheduled to begin in New Hampshire at 8 p.m. and comes just one day after Mr.
Mr Trump then slammed the jury’s decision – which ordered him to pay $5m in damages – calling it a “total disgrace”.
Meanwhile, CNN has faced intense backlash over its decision to host the former president who has repeatedly dismissed the network’s reporting as “fake news”.
While the town hall was immediately condemned after it was announced last week, anger grew even more intense after Tuesday’s ruling as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threw her weight behind new calls to overturn it. Michael Fanone, one of the Capitol police officers who was injured on January 6 also criticized the network.
Neither CNN nor Trump, however, has shown any intention of canceling it. As such, Mr Trump is set to face tough questions from debate moderator Kaitlan Collins and the audience.
Stelter: CNN’s Trump town hall was a ‘signal’
Brian Stelter, a former CNN media correspondent, said that the Trump town hall tonight was a “signal to the political elite and the public about CNN’s editorial approach” and that the motivation was unlikely to be money.
