The Buffalo Sabers have re-signed captain Kyle Okposo to a one-year, $2.5 million contract, the team announced Wednesday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Last season, Okposo scored 11 goals and 28 points in 75 games while averaging 14:40 ice time per game.
- Okposo, 35, just finished the seven-year, $42 million contract he signed in the 2016 offseason. In 984 career games, Okposo tallied 230 goals and 592 points between the Sabers and New York Islanders.
- The Sabers named Okposo captain before the season, replacing Jack Eichel.
- The Sabers finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 42-33-7 record. Their 91 points are one less than the Panthers, who secured the last wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
