Six of Rio’s leading samba schools stopped by the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí on Sunday evening.
A samba school pays tribute to the country’s largest indigenous group, the Yanomami, and the Amazon rainforest during its parade.
The Salgueiro school also honors British journalist Dom Phillips and local Indigenous expert Bruno Pereira. who was killed by Amazon in 2022.
Dom Phillips’ wife, Alessandra Soares, also joined the parade.
