A recent survey conducted by TResearch estimated that almost 93% of Salvadorans approve of the leadership of President Nayib Bukele. This is the highest level of support for a political leader who took office in 2019.
Bukele is a well-known figure throughout the cryptocurrency community, mainly because of his pro-Bitcoin stance. Under his rule, El Salvador became the first country to adopt the leading digital asset as legal tender.
Salvadorans Are Satisfied With Bukele
According to RESEARCH REVEALS, only 5.3% were unhappy with the work done by Bukele’s administration, while 92.3% agreed with its policies and actions. Some of the best achievements of the President’s cabinet include managing the COVID-19 pandemic, building new roads and upgrading highway infrastructure, and implementing reforms in the education sector.
To the wider society, however, Bukele is known as the man who waged war on local criminal gangs and opened the country’s doors to Bitcoin.
El Salvador became the first country to declare BTC as legal tender within its borders in 2021. Bukele’s government did not stop there, introducing several initiatives involving the asset in the following years.
It buys BTC at a macroeconomic level and uses the proceeds to ESTABLISHING a large veterinary hospital. It also reveals the intentions of creating a futuristic “Bitcoin City” which is located in the southeastern region of the Latin American country.
Unsurprisingly, the future metropolis will adopt BTC as its currency, while its urban area is designed in such a way that it can represent the logo of the digital asset when viewed from above.
Bukele recently MEAN that the embrace of Bitcoin increased tourism in El Salvador by nearly 100%, improved its heritage, and made the country very popular for investors and entrepreneurs.
Second Term for Leader?
Despite El Salvador’s constitution prohibiting Presidents from having successive mandates, Bukele said he will compete in the 2024 election.
“I inform the people of Salvador that I have decided to run as a candidate for the President of the Republic,” the 41-year-old Office has partnered in September.
However, it seems the controversial decision did not cause any opposition among locals as 93% want him to remain their leader after next year’s vote. 6.8% would be happier to see someone else serve as President.
