Insurer and reinsurer AXIS Capital has announced the appointment of Andy Shaw as the new Specialty Team Leader for North American Programs, a newly created role.
Shaw will be based in the company’s Phoenix office and report to Gabe Galanski, the Head of North American Programs.
Shaw brings extensive program management expertise, particularly in the North American P&C (Property and Casualty) space. Prior to joining AXIS, he held the position of Vice President for P&C Programs, Casualty, and Ocean Marine – E&S Programs at Nationwide.
As Specialty Team Leader, Shaw plays a key role in shaping the overall business direction of AXIS’ portfolio of specialty programs. He is responsible for establishing underwriting, pricing, and portfolio modeling standards and governance for the company’s MGA (Managing General Agent) and MGU (Managing General Underwriter) partners.
In addition, he will manage program authority and develop strategic partnerships with program stores aligned with the company’s broader distribution and specialty underwriting strategy and risk appetite.
