follow Resident Evil and Dead Spacethe year of horror remakes continues with the upcoming launch of Alone in the Dark. The new version is described as a “re-imagining” of the initial trilogy, which began with the seminal survival horror original in 1992. It was developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic and stars David Harbor and Jodie Comer — you can get a feel for the creepy action in the spotlight video, which features plenty of gameplay footage, above.
Here is the basic premise for the game:
In the deep south in 1029, Emily Hartwood’s uncle disappeared. Together with private investigator Edward Carnby, he embarks on a journey to Derceto Manor, an asylum for the mentally ill where someone is hiding. You will encounter strange residents, terrifying kingdoms, dangerous monsters, and finally discover the plot of evil’s rise. At the intersection of reality, mystery, and madness, an adventure awaits that will change your core beliefs. Who can you trust, what will you believe, and what will you do next?
As part of what was revealed in the trailer, THQ Nordic also announced that the game will launch on October 25th, in time for the horror season. It’s coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
But if you can’t wait that long, a free demo, which is a prologue for the main story, is available now. It happens a few weeks before the events of Alone in the Dark and there won’t be any combat in the main game, but it should give you an interactive taste of what to expect.
