DESANTIS SIGNS BILLS TARGETING TRANSGENDER TREATMENT FOR EDUCATORS, PRONOUN USE IN SCHOOLS
Last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed several new bills into law, including a ban on transgender treatments for children and a law on the use of pronouns in schools.
One of the bills signed by DeSantis, SB 254, prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from having sex-reassignment surgery or taking prescription-based cross-sex hormones to treat gender dysphoria. The bill would also make permanent a state rule that prohibits Medicaid from paying for people of all ages undergoing the procedures.

It would ban surgical procedures and experimental puberty blockers for minors,” he said before signing SB 254. “It would also require any adult who receive these operations informed about the irreversible nature and about the dangers of the procedures. This will give the courts temporary jurisdiction to intervene and stop the procedures for children outside the state.”
